Step 02 of 40: Go To Command

This step illustrates how to use the Go To command under the Find & Select menu to navigate to any cell within an Excel workbook, and how to use Ctrl+Home (on Windows) or Fn+Ctrl+Left Arrow (on Mac) to return to cell A1.

In Step 2, begin by activating the Assumptions worksheet. The worksheet is purposefully protected, and you do not need a password. Any cells you need to edit are unlocked. Choose Home | Find & Select | Go To, enter the letter A and then your 4 digit spreadsheet ID in the Reference field, and press OK. If your ID is 1234, then enter A1234 here. Enter your 4 digit spreadsheet ID in the corresponding cell, such as cell A1234 if your spreadsheet ID is 1234. You'll refer to this cell later on in the exercise. Press Ctrl+Home to return to cell A1 (on Windows) or n+Ctrl+Left Arrow (on Mac) instead of having to scroll back to the top of the worksheet.

NOTE: If you see #NAME? in cell B1 you're using an outdated version of Excel.

NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSWORD TO COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT.

Certain worksheets within the assignment workbook are purposefully protected. Any cells that you need to edit on a protected worksheet are unlocked and color coded.
